Dogs of Canberra
A celebration of Canberra's four-legged locals.
Every dog has a story. What's yours?
From the cheeky sausage dog who rules the household to the greyhound who loves a quiet afternoon on the couch, Canberra's dogs have big personalities and even bigger places in our hearts.
I'm Marianne Mettes, and I'm creating a special collection of original dog portraits inspired by the wonderful dogs of Canberra!
I'm inviting local dog lovers to submit a favourite photo of their furry friend, along with a little story about what makes them special. I'll select a number of dogs to inspire original paintings and drawings, which will be exhibited at Cypher Brewing Co in Gungahlin as part of a Christmas-themed Dog Day Out.
Come along for a celebration of local dogs, art and community, with a chance to discover the finished portraits in person.
Does your dog deserve a place in the pack? I'd love to meet them!
Submissions are open to Canberra dog lovers. Submitting a photo doesn't guarantee your dog will be selected or entitle you to a free artwork. Selected portraits will be original artworks available to purchase.

🗓️ Sunday 13 December 2026
Submit your dog photo!
Deadline to submit: 25 Oct, 5pm
How it works
1. Introduce me to your dog!
Upload a favourite photo and tell me a little about your dog's personality, quirks or story. I want to discover what makes Canberra's dogs so special!
2. I'll choose the dogs to feature.
I'll select a number of submissions to inspire original paintings and drawings. Unfortunately, I won't be able to create an artwork of every dog submitted. The deadline to submit a photo will be Sunday 25 Oct, 5pm.
3. Meet the portraits at the exhibition!
The finished artworks will be revealed at the Dogs of Canberra exhibition at Cypher Brewing Co on Sunday 13 December. Selected dog owners will receive the first opportunity to purchase the original artwork of their dog, where possible.
The artworks will also be available for others to purchase, so everyone is welcome to come along and discover the collection.
A little note about purchasing
A few things to know before submitting
Submitting a photo is free. There is no fee to enter your dog into consideration for the exhibition.
Not every dog will be selected. I'll choose the dogs that inspire the final collection.
Submitting a photo doesn't include a free portrait. All paintings and drawings are original artworks that will be available to purchase.
Selected dog owners get first priority to purchase. If your dog is selected, I’ll contact you with the artwork price and purchase deadline before it is offered more widely. Purchase is entirely optional. If the artwork is not purchased within the stated timeframe, it may be made available to other visitors and collectors.
Come along to the exhibition! The collection will be revealed in person at Cypher Brewing Co on Sunday 13 December.
